I worked at Subway in La Jolla when I was younger, I would recommend it. 2 : Mall jobs, family restaurants, host/hostess jobs, YMCA or boys & girls club (all you need to get is a CPR certification which is easy)...but what part of SD are you in anyway? It really depends on that too, because then people could suggest smaller businesses that they know of that would hire someone around your age. 3 : Theaters. They hire lots of people so you're able to get time off if you ask for it. If you stick around a year or so you can get promoted. If you're going to be taking college classes you can work around your schedule. My kids have worked other places that aren't so flexible. Legoland is a good place to work too. They hire for the summer, then rehire some people for the regular year. Also look at Sea World, Wild Animal Park and the Zoo.
