About best way to travel from Los Angeles to San Diego

Best way to travel from Los Angeles to San Diego?
My wife works in San Diego and I work in Los Angeles. What would be the best place for us to relocate to make travel easier for both of us and what are our travel options (driving, Metrolink, buses) and how much time would it take in these scenarios. We are ready to move to a new location if it requires. We are currently in Torrance, CA. Please note that I work in Torrance and she in Balboa Ave/15 Fwy. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Even moving halfway between them, is going to be at least an hour's commute - especially going towards LA. Orange County would be closer though; try Laguna Niguel, Irvine or Mission Viejo. I think Amtrak goes between SD and LA; but it might be easier for your wife to just drive to SD...... Too bad YOU can't work there too:) It's an ideal place to live.......

Well theres the train station in fullerton and you can take the surfliner by amtrak to san diego. its fast, only a few stops, and no traffic! but to relocate somewhere in the middle, if your into the beach maybe san clemente, which the surfliner stops at.

Find the train that goes from LA to San Diego, and start by looking in cities along the rail lines. Ideally, you should start in Oceanside. Why? Because that is where the COASTER (from San Diego) ends as well as the southern terminus of Metrolink. You can each take the train to work without having to switch. Check out www.metrolinktrains.com for a list of stations, and check out those cities: Oceanside, San Clemente, Tustin, etc.

Hi, I live in Gardena (almost Torrance) and my best friend lives in San Diego. Several times a year we meet in San Clemente or San Juan Capistrano. You could take the train (Amtrak) or drive. Traffic during the week can be really bad. Those 2 areas are quite pricey. How about Vista?

I would look around Oceanside as then you could use the commuter trains (Metrolink to Los Angeles) and your wife could use the Coaster to San Diego and if you got passe for the commuter train service *usually* the same pass is vaild on Amtrak as well as connecting transit (ie metrolink pass will be vaild on Amtrak from oceanside to Los Angeles)

Metrolink runs from Oceanside to LA. Coaster runs from Oceanside to SD. Amtrak runs all the way from LA to SD. But even with the train, it's going to be a long commute for both of you.
